I walked along the pavement, surrounded by memories.

I saw him there, sitting on the steps in a drunken haze. I took a seat next to him, trying to steady myself. We had just kissed and I felt unbalanced.

Down the block, I was smoking a cigarette. She tried to calm him down as he paced anxiously. I ignored him, irrationally angered by a past I was not apart of. We exchanged a glance and then he was gone.

I was crying across the street. They tried to comfort me, but I found no solace in our exchange. I hailed a cab, not sure where I was going.

We stood there and he broke my heart….
